The rules for using this site, and what we do and don't promise.
These terms are not finished. The business identity details below have not been filled in yet, and nothing on this page has been reviewed by a solicitor. Do not rely on it as it stands.
By using PassPilot you agree to what follows. If you don't agree with it, please don't use the site.
1. Who we are
This site is operated by [to be completed]. Our address is [to be completed], and you can reach us at [to be completed].
PassPilot is an independent study resource. It is not produced, endorsed, approved or authorised by the DVSA, the Department for Transport, or GOV.UK.
2. What the content is, and isn't
Everything here is general information to help you learn. It is not legal advice, not motoring advice for your specific vehicle, and not a substitute for the official Highway Code, the DVSA's own materials, or your car's handbook. Where those disagree with us, they are right and we are not.
Maintenance content describes checks in general terms. Cars differ. If you are unsure about anything mechanical, or a fault affects how the car drives or stops, get a qualified person to look at it rather than relying on a website.
We work hard to keep the content accurate and to source it properly — see disclaimer & sources — but we can't promise it is complete, current or error-free. Rules, fees and procedures change.
3. Who owns what
The writing, design, code and original illustrations on this site belong to us. You may read them, print them and share links freely. You may not republish substantial parts of the site as your own, or resell them.
A great deal of the material here is Crown copyright and is used under the Open Government Licence v3.0 — the Highway Code rules and illustrations, and the road sign artwork from Know Your Traffic Signs. That material carries its own licence terms, which are set out in full on the disclaimer & sources page. Our terms don't override them, and our permission isn't needed for you to use that material under the same licence.
4. Practice quiz access codes
Our books and flashcard decks include a code that unlocks the practice quizzes. The code is part of what you bought and is for your own use. Please don't publish it or distribute it — the quizzes are one of the reasons the kit is worth buying.
Entering a code stores a flag in your own browser. It does not create an account, and we do not record who you are — see the privacy page. Clearing your browser storage will mean entering the code again. We may change or withdraw the quizzes, and we may invalidate codes that have been published publicly.
5. Buying our products
Our books and decks are sold through Amazon. When you buy one, your contract of sale is with Amazon under Amazon's terms — not with us. Delivery, returns, refunds and your statutory cancellation rights are all handled by Amazon, and their policy is the one that applies.
If something is wrong with the product itself, contact us at [to be completed] and we will help — but a return or refund has to go through Amazon.
6. Links to other sites
We link to other websites — GOV.UK, retailers, comparison sites, The Motor Ombudsman. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, their products or their terms. Linking to a site isn't an endorsement of it.
Where a link could ever earn us money, we say so on the page itself. At the time of writing none of them do.
7. Using the site properly
Don't attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or anything behind it, and don't use it for anything unlawful. We may withdraw access if you do.
8. Liability
We don't exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows: the site is provided as it is, and we aren't liable for loss arising from relying on its content, from the site being unavailable, or from anything you reach through a link on it.
Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
9. Changes
We update the site continuously and may change these terms. The version on this page is the one that applies. If we change anything significant we'll say so here rather than quietly.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
